Signiture Farms Int Training Program
What we aim to do
Here at SFI we train and board other horses over a set period of time. Always being successful in training. One example is our stallion 'EV Conquer and Control.' Trained and raised at Signiture Farms. The program allows training from foals to elders. After training is complete we send back the foal/horse to you, fully trained and ready to compete. Our training starts with a simple lunge, getting both horse and trainer to trust each other better. After a few days of lunging and ground activities, we start under saddle. if the horse is not yet trained to be under saddle, we work but calmly sliding the blanket over the horse's back a few times. After a while, we smoothly put the saddle on, not yet strapping it around the horse. We after walking around with the saddle sitting on top of the horse, we fully tack the horse. We work on this for a few days, and eventually get to riding. Doing the usual fully tacked up lunge. We test the horse, the trainer throwing his/her hands over to the other side of the saddle, putting light pressure on the saddle. If the horse spooks we wait at least 20 minutes to try again. Until we eventually mount. We get the horse used to the feel of weight on it's back. Slowly moving on and teaching the horse walk, trot, canter, and gallop.
When training in a discipline, such as showjumping, we slowly start off at the small 8 inch pole. Setting a few out in a row and trotting over them at a steady pace. After a couple days of that, we move the pole up to about a foot and a half. Doing the same, with a steady trot and a calm movement. Eventually getting up to the highest possible height on the pole. The horse is then fully trained and ready to be sent back to the owner.
As you can see, the facility have a very slow yet powerful training technique. For most of the trainers here at SFI, it is all about trust in the horse. Getting the horse to trust you enough to allow you to do such hings as mounting and riding. To contact SFI about training your foal/Horse, Send an Email to [email protected]
